Your dog could be at risk for heartworm disease, which is
potentially deadly disease of the heart and lungs. Heartworm disease
is highly preventable, with a safe, and convenient monthly medication
that’s easy to give and easy for your dog to take.

Over 250,000 dogs in the US were reported positive for heartworms in
2004. Heartworms live in the hearts and lungs of infected dogs. Mosquitoes
transmit the heartworm larvae from the infected dogs to the healthy dogs.
If heartworm disease is left untreated, it may be fatal to your pet.

All dogs are at risk of heartworm disease no matter where they live. Once
a dog is infected with heartworms, treatment can be expensive, difficult
and unsuccessful.

Some of the signs of heartworm infection in dogs include:

   Coughing

   Difficulty breathing

   Sluggishness

   Reduced ability to exercise

   Loss of consciousness

   Death

Many infected dogs show no signs until the disease is well advanced.
Early recognition is especially important.
